The Daemon, now a functioning parallel economy with its own currency, reputation levels and quest system.
Take a quest. Members hold levels rather than job titles, are paid in credits earned by verified work, and rebuild local farming and manufacturing under a network that allocates the tasks and audits the output. Nobody has a boss, and nobody chooses their own work either.
Allocated labour — A system decides what you will do, and people comply — sometimes willingly.
The sequel that matters more than the original for this question. Daemon asks whether a program can employ people; Freedom asks what an entire society organised that way does on a Tuesday, and answers in detail.
