Daemon

A distributed program, triggered by its creator's death, that recruits and pays people through a game interface.

Take jobs from the network. It pays well, it ranks you, it advances you, and it never explains what any individual task is for. People do the work anyway, and most of them prefer it to the employer they had before.

Allocated labour — A system decides what you will do, and people comply — sometimes willingly.

A functioning employer before anyone notices it is not a person. The recruitment mechanic is a game, and that is the point rather than the gimmick.
